The many different powers we see in this world are nothing but different manifestations of God. Among these, Guru is the most glorious manifestation of that supreme self, and so the Guru is known as the very embodiment of supreme Reality :
गुरुः साक्षात्परब्रह |
The greatness of the Guru is described in the Shiva Sutra Vimarshini :
गुरुर्वा पर्मेश्वरी अनुग्रहिका शक्तिः |
The Guru is the Grace bestowing power of supreme Lord.
